Raina Wallens got her start in publishing by editing young adult and middle grade books—of the serial sort she devoured as a child.
(Sweet Valley High being top of the list.) Raina then moved on to ghostwrite several Sweet Valley books and write more YA books under the pseudonyms Allison Raine and Scott Wallens. (Although she’s only one half of the Scott Wallens pseudonym—longer story there.)
Raina has published articles and essays in several outlets, including HuffPost, The Rumpus, Zibby Mag, Tenafly Magazine, and others, covering an array of topics ranging from local interest stories, motherhood and stepmotherhood, love, and grief.
Raina is currently working on a YA novel about a new neighbor, an influencer, and a stalker and what happens when their worlds collide.
Raina graduated from Cornell University with distinction and has been a Bread Loaf Writers Conference participant and Vermont Studio Center resident. She was born and raised in New York City. No one is more surprised than she is that she now lives in New Jersey–and that she likes it. Even enough to write about it.
